Your little one got into your makeup while you weren't looking. Now you have lipstick smeared all over your windows. If you tried cleaning with ordinary window cleaner, you're probably facing a smeared mess on your glass now. Don't panic. You won't have to scrub all day to get rid of the lipstick mess. Here are three household products you can use to clean up the mess. You'll get rid of the lipstick and leave your glass windows looking clean and sparkling.

Grease-Cutting Dish Soap

If you have small spots of lipstick on your windows, you should be able to take care of the problem with some grease-cutting dish soap.  Rub a small amount of detergent on the lipstick and allow it to sit for about 30 minutes. Use a damp cloth to wipe the stain away and then buff your glass with a paper towel. Repeat if necessary.

Hairspray and Ammonia

Large patches of lipstick are going to need a bit more work. For this project you'll need a few supplies.

Here's What You'll Need

  • Aerosol hairspray
  • Ammonia
  • Plastic spray bottle
  • Warm water
  • Clean sponge
  • Soft cloth

Directions

  1. Apply a thin coat of hairspray to the stains.
  2. Allow the hairspray to soak in for about 15 minutes.
  3. Pour 2 cups each of water and ammonia into your spray bottle.
  4. Apply a generous amount of the cleaning solution to the stains.
  5. Scrub the area with your sponge.
  6. Apply another layer of the cleaning solution and wipe dry with your soft cloth.
  7. Repeat the process on all your lipstick stains.

Rubbing Alcohol and Lemon Juice

Rubbing alcohol and lemon juice work well together to remove lipstick and clean glass. Simply pour 2 cups of water and 1 cup of rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle. Add ½ cup of lemon juice to the solution. Spray the solution on your windows and allow it to soak in for about 5 -10 minutes. Wipe clean with a soft cloth. For bright red lipstick stains, apply a second coat of the cleaning solution and repeat the process. This cleaning solution works well on any size lipstick mess.

If your little one channeled their "inner Picasso" on your windows, you'll want to clean up the greasy mess as quickly and easily as possible. Don't simply smear the lipstick around with ordinary window cleaners. Use the simple solutions provided above. They'll get rid of the stains and leave your windows clean and shiny.
